Columba and Aquila - Reflect and Review
Dear parents and carers,
This week has been another productive week of learning.
As part of our whole-school Social Justice Project, we took part in class discussions about issues in our local community and the wider world. The children shared thoughtful ideas about changes they would like to see and considered how they could make a positive difference through their actions.
In English, we focused on rehearsing our performance of Macbeth, developing characterisation, expression and stage presence. The children have been working incredibly hard to learn their lines and bring their characters to life. We cannot wait for you to see the final performance.
As mathematicians, Columba completed their maths and reading assessments. They also continued multiplying and dividing decimals by 10, 100 and 1,000 and explored volume and capacity.
As artists, we designed props for our Macbeth performance, thinking carefully about how they would help bring the story and characters to life on stage.
Next Week
we will be visiting the Oxford Playhouse on Thursday (see MCAS announcement from 5th June), please make sure your child comes to school with a packed lunch.
In maths, Columba will focus on converting units, including kilograms, kilometres, millimetres and millilitres, as well as converting units of length.
In history, we will continue our learning about Elizabethan times and update our presentations.
We will also continue rehearsing for our performance of Macbeth and finalising our props and stage plans.
Home Learning
Please continue to encourage your child to read daily and practise their spellings regularly, as short and consistent practice makes a real difference to confidence and fluency.
Maths Practice Journals are due on Monday and will be checked in class.
Columba Spelling Challenge: Children are encouraged to practise their spelling words and be ready to show their teacher—they can earn raffle tickets towards a big prize for their effort and progress.
