Reflect and Review

Dear Parents,

As we reached the end of term, it has been a busy, thoughtful and engaging week across the school, with many classes embracing the themes of spring and Easter alongside their learning. The children explored the signs of the season, including learning about baby animals and creating spring artwork, while also taking part in a variety of Easter activities such as making cards, completing word and egg hunts, and reflecting on the Easter story, including Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem and the meaning of Good Friday. In RE, pupils across the classes engaged in deeper thinking, from considering why Good Friday is important to Christians to discussing the question of whether Jesus’ death was part of God’s plan, exploring ideas of destiny and free will through activities like conscience alley.

In maths, learning ranged from exploring odd and even numbers through practical grouping activities, to developing understanding of fractions, percentages, decimals, coordinates and translation. Creative and practical learning also took place in subjects such as DT, where children designed, built and tested bridges, recording and evaluating their results.

In English, pupils produced extended writing, including imaginative pieces such as the journey of a water droplet. Personal development remained a focus, with children learning about caring for others, including using British Sign Language to express kindness, and taking on challenges to show empathy to those around them.

The week was brought together beautifully with a shared Easter service at St Peter and St Paul’s church, providing a special opportunity for reflection—thank you to all who joined us—and after what has been a short but intense term, we wish everyone a happy, restful and well-deserved Easter break.
