Spring Sprint – Go Team North Hinksey! 🏃‍♀️🚶‍♂️🚴‍♀️

1st May – 31st May

This May, we’re taking part in an exciting active challenge alongside West Oxford Primary and Botley School — and it’s time to get moving!

There are two levels of friendly competition:

  • School vs school – which school can travel the furthest and raise the most?
  • Class vs class – which class will top the leaderboard each week and take home the Wowee Trophy?

Every step, scoot, cycle and swim counts and most importantly this is about getting involved, not being the fastest or fittest.

It’s open to the whole community as we’re encouraging family and friends to sponsor the children—helping them go that extra distance while we work towards our £1,000 fundraising target.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the HSA or message via your class reps on WhatsApp.

How it works 👇

  1. Track your movement

Each week, children (with a little help from home) track how far they travel by:

  • Walking
  • Running
  • Cycling
  • Scooting
  • Swimming

A tracking sheet will be sent home on Friday 1st May.

To keep things simple, you can use tools like Google Maps to estimate regular routes (e.g. journeys to school or trips to the park).

  1. Share with your class

Every Monday, children bring in their tracking sheets with their total distance for the week (in km). Teachers will then help each class add up their totals — a great bit of real-life maths!

  1. Weekly celebration 🎉

Each week in Fri-yay Gathering, we will:

  • Reveal class totals
  • Award the Wowee Trophy to the top class
  • See how we’re doing compared to the other schools

Around the world 🌍

We’ll bring the distances to life by turning them into real journeys. For example: “We’ve travelled 83km — we’ve made it to London!”

Fundraising

We’re also using Spring Sprint to raise money for the school.

Our target is £1,000, which will help fund projects including working with a local artist to create outdoor artwork in the playground.

Children are encouraged to ask friends and family if they’d like to sponsor their efforts — a great extra motivation to go that bit further!

Donations can be made here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/spring-sprint-north-hinksey

Adults- Family and Friends

Supporting your child to be involved and collect sponsorship is great. However, you can also collect sponsorship and log your distances for team North Hinksey. Email your distances to: superspringsprint@gmail.com.

If you would like to take part we suggest a £10 donation for adults and a £5 donation for children.

There are also whatsapp groups and a strava group if you want to connect with other local people involved: https://sites.google.com/view/super-spring-sprint/home
